Curtis is a native of Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia she is the daughter of Carmencita Ojales a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan and James Ernest Curtis-Smith who was an Australian lawyer. Her father was married by Ojales when she was a teenager in the year 1982. Jasmine, her younger sister is also an actor. They both have fathers. shared a half-sister whose name was Clare who passed away in 2007 from a heart disease at four months old.
